Legal Issues Involved in Starting and Operating a Business

Legal information you should know!

This two-hour workshop will provide entrepreneurs with valuable legal information related to starting a new business including, but not limited to:

  1. Whether the business should be formed as a limited liability company or a corporation.

  2. Legal issues to be considered when starting a business with two or more owners.

  3. Whether a new business should hire employees or engage independent contractors.

  4. Identifying important legal issues to be considered before signing a lease agreement. 

  5. Other valuable information relating to business start-ups.

 The workshop will be presented by local Eugene attorney, Jill Fetherstonhaugh, who will be available to answer general legal questions posed by participants.

This legal service is offered in collaboration with the University of Oregon. 

Qualified small and emerging businesses can access free legal services through the Small Business Law Clinic, sponsored by the University of Oregon, School of Law. Services include entity formation, shareholder agreements, leases, employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, and business transactions. Services are provided by third-year law students, under the supervision of a practicing Oregon attorney.
